Configuration Management

It is a fact that networks can be adapted and changed to accommodate operational requirements as well as achievement of business goals. It is inevitable that as the network changes, so does the increasingly complex configuration.

BT iNet's Configuration Management service collects the current configuration from all network devices and stores them within a secure repository. This simple cost-effective service ensures we have access to past device configurations following inappropriate, malicious or accidental configuration changes. This cost-effective solution also provides a method of identifying audit and control issues through identification of unauthorised changes. Where our client also has BT iNet’s Maintenance services, all replacement network hardware would be despatched pre-configured, significantly reducing down time. This service will provide protection for the network especially in an environment with continual change and is therefore deemed critical to success. The deployment of this service would also free internal support staff from elements of day-to-day work.

Configuration Management provides:

Configuration collection at agreed intervals from all
devices, typically every day.
Open access for your technical staff into your section
of the secure repository.
Complete peace of mind that the network can be recovered
regardless of how complex.
Assurance of live regression planning prior, during and post
project implementations.
Integrity for your network by identifying all configuration
changes and audit trail.
Options for immediate roll-back of unexpected changes
to preserve the network.
Can form part of the Disaster Recovery plan providing
immediate access to configuration for the whole network.
This allows very rapid re-instatement of the network
devices in the event of single or multiple point failures.
The audited and secure retention of a specific number
or age of device configurations set on an organisational,
location or specific device basis.
